The Spondon Neighbourhood Board is pleased to announce that it is once again allocating funding from 1 October 2015 to allow residents to have items removed free of charge if they use the Bulky Waste service.
This is a time-limited service and so its first come, first served. You cannot have garden waste collected free of charge. When this funding runs out residents will still be able to use this service but you will need to pay.
To arrange a free collection call on or after Thursday 1 October:
From 1st October, you can arrange for the collection of large items such as furniture, mattresses and large electrical items. Call 03332 006981 and then select the following options:
Press 1 - Rubbish and recycling including booking a bulky collection
Press 3 - If you require a bulky or large item collecting
Press 2 - to book a collection
Advise the customer service adviser you are in the free bulky collection ward (Spondon), so the customer service adviser does not charge you – they will check your address to make sure.
What you want us to collect
Tell the adviser what you want collected, for example:
- A fridge/freezer – these items can be collected free at any time in the year
- a table and up to four chairs
- a three-piece suite
The Council won't collect the following items:
- asbestos
- bathroom, kitchen and other fitted units
- carpets
- concrete, rubble, soil and general builders' waste
- doors, gates and windows and window frames
- fluid containers, such as oil drums or storage heaters or gas bottles
- small items of domestic waste that haven't been put in sacks or boxes
- vehicle parts
- sheds, fence panels and greenhouses
- garden waste
The Council will collect bagged household waste (four bags is one item) but this FREE service does not include bagged garden waste. If you want garden waste collected this will need to be paid for.
