Staff, pupils and their families at Borrow Wood Primary School in Spondon are currently all working hard making poppies in a creative way to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of World War I and are asking for further help with the project.
Becky Peach, Lead Practitioner at the school, explains: "On the evening of Monday 10th November, staff are going to be placing the poppies that have been made by all pupils, staff, family and friends all around our school grounds. So that when our pupils come in on the 11th it will have an even bigger impact on our learners. After half term the whole school are focussing their learning on World War I."
"So far we have asked anyone and everyone to crochet, knit, finger knit, Pom Pom or create poppies in any other way. We feel we will have a fair few but there is always room for more. We believe we are the first primary school in Derby to 'yarn bomb' and this is where we could do with help."
"Would anyone else in Spondon be able to help with the project? We need a lot of ready made poppies but also donations of any red, black and green wool would be much appreciated."
