Spondon Traders discuss their Festive plans

As the nights begin to draw in and autumn begins to turn into Winter, Christmas starts to edge ever closer! The good news though is that that means we're not too far away from this year's fantastic Spondon Christmas Lights Switch-on event!

The event is once again being coordinated by the Spondon Traders Association. STA Chairman Mark Davis explains more:

Wasn't this year's Spondon Festival amazing? The organization was superb, the weather beautiful & it made me proud to be in Spondon. The support of all Spondonians was fantastic, making a wonderful day. We showed Derby how it should be done.

But now, winter approaches, and if winter is coming, then so is Christmas. The planning and arrangements for the Spondon Alight Great Christmas Light Switch On are well advanced, and if everything happens as we hope, and with your support, then we will all have a great night.

When is it all going to happen?

FRIDAY 23rd NOVEMBER, from 6.00 in the evening.

We’ve got the amazing Rick Sheehan to entertain, Mixed Blessings choir will delight again, and new for this year we are proud to present Danceworks Unlimited, the amazing Spondon Dance Troup.

We are expecting a very well known Barbershop Quartet, and we hope to have the Woden Cub Pack with their brilliant bell ringing as well, so it is going to be quite a night.

There will be some fair rides for the kids, and even a small market in the Precinct, so lots to see and do. As events will be taking place in the Village Hall car park AND the Chapel Lane Precinct car park, so there will be lots to entertain and amaze, as well as having a chance to get some of those presents that you just must have. Keep a look out for the final arrangements; we know it’s going to be great.

By the way, because we are using both car parks this year, please use public transport or walk into the village, parking is going to be very restricted, and mobility impaired villagers will obviously have the greatest need.

Support the Christmas Lights and you could win a fantastic holiday!

Have you got your raffle tickets yet? The winning prize is £500.00 in holiday vouchers, giving you the chance to get that special break that you always wanted. What could be better, winning such a great prize, and supporting your village Christmas Lights as well.

Thank you so much for your support, we couldn’t do this without you, putting money in the collecting tins and buying raffle tickets. So come to Spondon on the 23rd November, and prove that Spondon is the Friendliest Village in Derby! See you on the 23rd!
