Home Energy and Water Saving Project gathers pace

Derby City Council's Climate Change Team, working with Severn Trent Water, has started the two year project to help residents in Spondon, Alvaston and Chaddesden save money on their energy and water bills.
Since April this year, they have been offering advice on how to be more energy and water efficient including drop-in library sessions, and talks/presentations to local groups and neighbourhood forums. Specific activities so far have included giving a talk to Spondon Ladies' Coffee Group; conducting a home visit to a Spondon resident to talk about saving energy and water, and about home insulation; and conducting awareness raising sessions about the project at Spondon Village Hall and Edmund Hall.
The Council's Climate Change Team will be looking to provide specialist home energy advice visits to those in the most need so if you know someone who could benefit from a home visit or you would like more information, please contact the Climate Change Team (details below). The Team is also very keen to speak to community groups. If you think your group would be interested, please get in touch via the details below.
Coming Up: The Climate Change Team and Severn Trent Water's education team is hoping to visit Spondon schools during November to teach about energy and water saving during assemblies and through fun learning interactive activities. The Fantastic Homes Energy Roadshow will be visiting Spondon in January to demonstrate some of the energy saving measures you could have in your home and some of the help available to achieve it.
