Local crack down on anti-social behaviour

In recent weeks, members of the Spondon and Chaddesden Safer Neighbourhood Team have been involved in the Alcohol Intervention Project. This was set up to tackle the Anti Social Behaviour Problem reported to police over the past three months.

This has been alongside Breakout, which offers advice and services for Alcohol and Drug abuse, Youth Services, Sporting Futures and the Anti Social Behaviour Team.

The Team mainly focused on Chapel side, Chapel Street but also included other areas such as Park Road and Brunswood Park for the Spondon area and Chesapeake Community Centre and Roosevelt Avenue in the Chaddesden Area.

Positive action was taken with police seizing a vehicle for No Insurance and also issued a cannabis warning to another person on Chapel side.

Although groups had been sighted in the village by the Team, the Project was a great success with no calls for Anti Social Behaviour in Spondon or Chaddesden and with no alcohol being found on any of the groups that had been seen in the above mentioned areas.

Police and other partner agencies plan to carry this project on and hope to educate and offer support and advice to young people in both Spondon and Chaddesden.
