Spondon Alight, the village's great Christmas light switch on, will this year take place on Friday 25th November. The evening will feature festive fun and entertainment throughout the village centre and is sure to be another fantastic, atmospheric night to rival last year's event.
THE GRAND SWITCH ON WILL BE AT 7.15pm, IN CHAPELSIDE PRECINCT. Special arrangements are in place so Chapel Street will be closed during the switch on, making it safe for the crowds gathered. PLUS:
- Entertainment starts from 5.00pm.
- Santa will be in his special Grotto behind the Village hall from 5.00pm, and look out for some special surprises. To avoid the queues, tickets are on sale to meet Santa.
- Special amazing entertainment from Rick Sheehan starting in the precinct on Chapel Street at 6.40pm.
- Teas and cakes in the Village Hall from 6.30pm, with stalls to browse.
- Choirs, music and other entertainment on the stage in Chapelside Precinct and in the Village Hall, including well known local choir, Mixed Blessings, bell ringers and more.
- Hot Roast Chestnuts
- Street Organs
- Late Night Shopping throughout the village, including some great offers and discounts at Spondon Trader's shops ...and much much more!!
Throughout the Village leading up to the event you will find collecting tins and all the STA members have raffle tickets for sale. This is your chance to WIN AN IPAD, and support the Christmas Alight event. Call in, buy a ticket (or more, after all you've got to be in to win) and Rick or one of his friends will draw the winning ticket on the night, just before the switch on. ALL PROCEEDS go to the Spondon Alight Christmas light fund.
So come to the Village on 25th November from 5pm, gaze at the Christmas lights, get some great presents, soak up the atmosphere and ENJOY!
