Great turnout for Spondon Church Boy’s Club Reunion

Former members of the Spondon Church Boy’s Club recently held their latest get together at the Malt Shovel in Spondon.

The reunion was to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the then current vicar T E M Barber's death in 1988.

Rev Barber formed the club in 1939 and remained as leader for almost 50 years. There must have been 70 ‘old boys’ in attendance and the room was buzzing with stories of yesteryear, many of the boys in their mid 80s had not seen each other for many years.

Such was the attraction of the anniversary many had travelled some great distances including France and Bermuda. A big thank you to all who attended making it such a memorable occasion.
