This year's Flowering Containers competition, run by the Village Improvement Committee, was recently judged by Dawn Dagley, Area Manager for Derby City Council Parks Department.
Sitwell Garage repeated their victory from last year by coming first in the "Shops & Businesses" section, with second prize going to Spondon Hardware, which shows how unbiased the judging was – as they are tremendous supporters of the VIC, supplying most of the plants that are around the village, at a very good discount! Third prize in the category was first-time entrant, Sitwell Fish Bar.
In the pubs and clubs section, first prize went to the Village Club, improving on their third place last year. Second prize went to last year's winners, the White Swan, winners last year and third was the Malt Shovel.
