Spondon Neighbourhood Board - Funding Update

Spondon Neighbourhood Board allocated all of its remaining funding at its meeting in December 2012.

The Board allocated £1,000 to contribute to new fencing at Spondon Bowls Club. The club are working with other local sporting clubs to make their premises more secure. Spondon Board has now allocated all £16,000 funding it had available in 2012/13 to support local projects and community groups deliver the Boards priorities.

Spondon Neighbourhood Board also considered the feedback from residents who attended the Spondon forum on 28 November and came up with ideas how to improve the environment and make Spondon Cleaner and Safer. The Board has now agreed:
• how the remaining Streetpride Devolved budget for 2012/13 will be used, and:
• how it proposes to spend its Streetpride Devolved Budget funding for 2013/14.

Streetpride Devolved Budget Projects to be delivered Before April 2013

  • Moor Street SID
  • Cleaning bollards that were removed from Dale Park car park
  • ‘Deep clean’ Willowcroft Road Park, Gravel Pit Lane Park, Haddon Drive open space, South Avenue park and Spondon Linear park
  • Refurbish 16 cast iron street name plates
  • Handrail installation along jitty from Mercian Mews to Merchant Avenue
  • Supply and plant Acer campestre “Elsrijk on Derby Road verge
  • Remove basal growth from Sycamore on Derby Road verge
  • Deadwood and crown lift Oak on Derby Road Verge.
  • Prune Yews on entrance into archway at Sensory Garden Chapel St -
  • Crown lift and dead wood Oak by roadside at Sensory Garden Chapel St
  • Cut back dying yew tree and commission Carving on Yew Tree in Sensory garden –
  • Landscape and tidy area by Lodge Lane open space under steps by A52

    Extra Gully cleansing To clear gullies which get blocked due to leaves, silt etc
    Extra jitty( footway) cleansing To clear jitties which are subject to litter and waste accumulation
    Plant bulbs, trees, shrubs in various locations in wide highway verges and grass areas Respond to forum feedback to improve landscape
    Provide extra street type litter bins in areas where dog fouling and litter a problem Reduce locations where litter and dog mess a problem
    Recycling Education plays at Primary Schools To engage and inform 900 school children in recycling
    Deep Clean of various Parks Deep clean outside edges of parks to improve appearance of open spaces
    Provide footpath to toposcope on Dale Park Complete the work started to create new feature on Dale park

    The next Spondon Neighbourhood Forum is on Wednesday 6 March 2013 at 6.30pm at Edmund Hall, Edmund Road. You can meet the Spondon Safer Neighbourhood Team, Spondon Neighbourhood Board members and Spondon Neighbourhood Manager from 6pm. You can meet your Spondon Councillors and Derby Homes from 5.30pm before the forum meeting starts.
