Prince takes tea at Bluebells Dairy

It's not every day that a Spondon family gets to say they had The Prince of Wales around for tea - but that's exactly what the Brown family from Bluebells Dairy in Spondon are able to say this weekend!

The Prince of Wales visited Bluebells on Friday (18th Feb) as part of a series of engagements in Derbyshire. Following a tour of the dairy, the Prince sampled ice cream in the Bluebells cafe before sitting down at the Brown family's dining table for a cup of Earl Grey tea.

As reported last week, the Prince was honouring a promise to visit the family after he met them at the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards in 2009 and expressed an interest in coming to meet the family again at Bluebells to see the business for himself.

Bluebells Dairy's Rosemary Brown was excited and honoured to have the Prince visit the farm. "I couldn't quite believe that we actually had the Prince at our dining table, drinking Earl Grey tea." she told the Derby Telegraph.

"It was a lovely occasion and he was so interested in what we are doing here at Brunswood Farm, giving us lots of advice as well."

The Prince sampled Bluebells' Strawberry ice cream as well as a special Bread & Butter Pudding flavour made especially for the visit and declared both to be "really good".
