Details of bin collections in Spondon over the festive period have now been confirmed by Derby City Council.
They include a rescheduled collection date on Wednesday 24th December (Christmas Eve) in place of the usual Friday collection that week, which would have fallen on Boxing Day.
It was originally announced that there would be no collection at all in Spondon during Christmas week, sparking complaints and concerns that black bins would be left uncollected for 3 weeks, leading to overflowing bins and smells from decomposing food and other materials. The rescheduled collection date of 24th December has now been added though to avoid this situation.
So bin collections in Spondon over Christmas 2014 will be as follows:
Friday 19th Dec - Blue bin
WEDNESDAY 24th Dec - Black bin
Friday 26th Dec - NO COLLECTION
Friday 2nd Jan - Black bin
Friday 9th Jan - Blue bin*
Friday 16th Jan - Black bin
The schedule still means a three week gap between collection of the blue bins in Spondon, with a message forrom the council that paper and cardboard can be put out separately in carrier bags for the collection on 9th January to leave more room in blue bins for other recyclable materials.
