Sitwell Street set for pavement makeover in the new year

Spondon Rejuvenation Team Update: As you may well have read previously, the SRT has been awarded £10,000 to improve the Village Centre and life within our Village. It has been released by central government, and is working its way through Derby City Council to us.

We have a number of ideas, but our preferred idea is to alter some the Car Park behind the Library to increase parking spaces and increase the number of Disabled spaces, whilst preserving the large grass space.

We are working hard on a project with the Spondon Historical Society to bring back life to our lamented toilet block beside the Village Hall. The very early plan is to create a Heritage Centre, small meeting room... and a toilet. This is going to take some time, but we will keep working at it.

Early in the New Year, the pavements in Sitwell Street and parts of Chapel Lane are going to be re-laid, which will be very welcome. This is being funded through Spondon Neighbourhood Board, and it will be a very welcome improvement for our Village.

We are also very pleased that there is going to a new cycle rack outside the news agents shop, so cycling into the Village centre will be easier than ever.

In the New Year, we are hoping to meet with lots of groups and associations so that we can get lots of ideas, to find out what you want for the Village Centre and how and if it can be made to happen. Look out for the details coming soon...
