Album aims to raise money for Help Harriet appeal

A musician from Spondon has produced an album of music for babies and toddlers to raise money for the Help Harriet campaign.

"Music For Little Stars" is a series of short compositions recorded on guitars, keyboards and orchestral instruments, designed to help babies and toddlers relax. The album and its artwork are available to download at http://musicforlittlestars.bandcamp.com. The price is not fixed - people can pay what they like for it.

Proceeds from the album will go towards funds for the Help Harriet campaign and raise awareness of what is still an undiagnosed condition. 18-month-old Harriet from Spondon was born unable to suck or swallow. She needs a tracheotomy to enable her to breathe and has had to have major surgery on her spine to stop its curve affecting her internal organs. Her neurological disorders are still undiagnosed. Her family are raising money to fund a special room for Harriet and to pay for the equipment that keeps her alive.

Ben Haynes, who wrote and produced the album, said: "I have a daughter the same age as Harriet and when I heard about the campaign a year ago I really felt I wanted to help out. I hope this raises a few pounds for an excellent cause."

Other recent fundraising activities include a cycle event at Inchcape Toyota while a brave group of Spondon Traders braved the cold to strip off for a unique "full monty" calendar.

Harriet’s website is www.helpharriet.org and the fundraising album can be downloaded from http://musicforlittlestars.bandcamp.com.
