Kind-hearted Barnaby Ward raised an amazing £1,200 by hosting a plant sale in aid of charity Guide Dogs.
The entrepreneurial 10 year old from Spondon set up a stall outside his home asking people for donations in exchange for plants and homemade handwritten slate signs with quirky mottos.
Barnaby had grown some of the plants from seed and neighbours and friends donated the rest.
He was helped by his parents, his younger twin sisters and grandparents who all rolled up their sleeves and helped set up the stall and make the signs.
Barnaby and his family decided to raise the money for Guide Dogs after seeing the difference their neighbour’s guide dog has made to his life.
Barnaby said: “I wanted to raise the money for Guide Dogs, as I want to help people by getting more guide dogs trained.”
Barnaby’s mum Sally Anne added: “We’re extremely proud of Barnaby’s determination and enthusiasm to get the stall set up. It’s been a lovely activity to do as a family, getting everyone involved in one task or another and knowing the money raised will help make a positive difference to someone’s life.”
On the day Barnaby raised £600 and Santander, who Sally Anne works for, are matching funding the donation to make the amazing sum up to £1,200 for Guide Dogs.
